Bye bye Didcot A

RWE NPower is due to blow up three of the southern cooling towers between 03:00 BST and 05:00 BST on 27 July. It will be done before dawn as they are big spoil sports and possibly some other reasons as well.

Moreton Table Tennis Club summer practice sessions

MTTC have booked the school hall for practice from 7pm every Wednesday until the end of August 2014, with the exception of 6th August when the hall is unavailable due to the floor being re-varnished. Due to the numbers dropping in the summer we will combine the junior/adult sessions starting 7pm but feel free to turn up anytime between 7pm and 8:15pm. Sessions will finish at 9:30pm – 10:00pm depending on numbers.

The Great South Moreton Grass Rake

On Sunday 13th July residents of South Moreton spanning 76 years of age and between 0-100% of blood alcohol level joined together to clean up the long grass in the rec.

Rumours of “an hour” turned out to be slightly understated but with the help of various tractors, front loaders, a baler (which we broke), a big trailer and lots of lots of people with rakes (some of which we broke) the rec was cleared and cleaned ahead of the school summer holidays in a mere 6 hours.

A huge thank you to all those that lent a hand on the day.

A special thanks to those who brought the larger machinery to break the back of the initial task.

  • Billy for cutting and trailer
  • Lee for the Baler
  • Ken for the Rake and Angus Dart for the loan of the tractor and equipment.
