The recreation ground is situated in the heart of the village accessed from the High Street, Kirby Close or Sands Road. It consists of a large children’s play area, large play field and picnic area. There is also a child’s obstacle course within a wooded area.
It is a lovely area for a picnic, family gathering or village social events.
In the last year or so we have also upgraded the Rec . The play area is now fenced in to give a fabulous secure area for small children , including shade areas. In addition we have built a circular loop path around the whole Rec grounds which is suitable for wheelchairs , bikes or if you just want some exercise on dry ground! Around the path and in the grounds there are multiple benches and picnic tables where you can sit and admire the 85 odd trees, including an orchard, that we have planted in the last two years. And this spring we are planting up a wildflower area . ( PS the 500 or so daffodils we planted are just coming up) Or you can play or watch football with two recently added 5 aside goals
Annoyingly we have had to take down the children’s swings as they were rotten but we are actively fund raising so that we can replace this popular facility as soon as possible. And by popular demand we are also fund raising to put in swings for teenagers( or adults!) near the “bus shelter” in the un-mowed nature area”.
We are so pleased that so many people, especially children use our Recreation Ground .Come and enjoy it .
