A34 Chilton to Milton Drainage Maintenance Scheme
The Highways Agency will be carrying out essential maintenance works to the drainage system along the A34 between the A4130 Milton Interchange and A4185 Chilton Junction. This scheme aims to reduce the risk of future flooding and supports Oxfordshire County Councils proposed improvement schemes at Chilton and Milton.
Work is scheduled to start in early-December 2014 and is expected to be completed by the end of May 2015*.
Traffic Management
For the safety of the workforce and our customers, 24 hour narrow lane running with a temporary 50mph speed limit will be in place for the duration of the scheme.
There will also be occasional full overnight closures of the A34 between the two junctions with traffic diverted via the A4185 Reading Road/A4130 Abingdon Road – this route is 4.5 miles and the expected journey time will be a minimum of 10 minutes. Confirmation of the closure dates will be displayed in advance on black and yellow signs along the A34.
